Hi, I’m Tapestry, a happily divorced, gay crone living in Southwestern
Connecticut with my Umbrella Cockatoo, Barney. I have a second home at
the stable nearby with my 7 year-old Arabian Gelding, Ghost. You can
see us at www.dappledghost.com.

I make ends meet by working as an Administrative Assistant (read
Secretary) nearby. One advantage to my job is that it alternates
between being very busy and very S.L..O...W.... That’s when I can write
and keep my creative juices flowing.

As a diabetic and a breast cancer survivor, I realize that both diseases
have made me even more aware of my mortality and the fragile place we
hold in the world. This was brought home recently when my sweet boy got
a twinkle in his eye and decided he was a rodeo horse and bucked me off,
cracking a rib. As I lay in the dirt, trying desperately to catch my
breath, he looked at me as if to say, "Hay mom, whatcha doin’ down
there?"

My two adult children live in New England and we love to communicate via
e-mail. They were a bit upset about my "spill." But I told them that
when one has a horse, falling off is "in the contract." I have several
other essays almost ready to come on-line, and a novel "in the works."
I am grateful to my "sister," Jehana for hosting my essays here.

Some people have asked about my name - Tapestry. I will explain: Each
of us is part of the Web of Life. That interconnected weaving that
knits people and species together into the ecological web of the world.
My overall pattern reflects my personal Worldview, attitudes, opinions,
beliefs and choices. As a person, special animal, accident or other
influence comes into my life; they color and change my attitudes and my
way of viewing the world. They subtly change my pattern of the web.
When their influence leaves my life, my tapestry retains some of their
color and pattern and is forever changed. Thus, my life is the result
of my own personal colors and patterns as well as other influences and
people which have filled my life - for better or for worse. Each of us
represents the tapestry of our particular portion the web of life.
